Heritage Days Harbor Cruises

August 2nd, 2011 by Expeditions NW

You would be surprised at what you would learn about the natural deep water port that graces downtown Port Angeles while cruising in one of our morning or evening harbor cruises during the Heritage Weekend.

Matter of fact our harbor is deep enough to provide anchorage for most kinds of ocean-going ships.

We can thank the Ediz Hook sand spit that provides protection to the deep harbor from the storms and swells that blow in from the Pacific end of the Strait of Juan de Fuca.

The Port Angeles Harbor is the closest deep-water port to the Pacific Rim in the Pacific Northwest.

What better way to celebrate the end of a long summer week than sharing a harbor cruise with good friends, enjoying a colorful sunset, and sipping a margarita. This world famous cocktail was originally invented in 1941 at Hussong’s Cantina in Ensenada, Mexico by Don Carlos Orozco. Don named the experimental mixed drink after the first person to sample it, Margarita Henkel, the daughter of a German ambassador.
